The Environmental Protection Agency’s 2023 Automotive Trends Report highlights major progress by the car industry in reducing greenhouse gas emissions. EVs will loom large, it finds.
The EPA has found that new cars hitting the market in the U.S. last year drove the biggest drop in CO2 emissions in almost a decade, with EVs playing a critical role.
Overall, the drop in emissions from new cars on the market was the largest in the past nine years and continued a trend that began two decades ago, the agency found.
